Cornell University agrees to independent investigation into its handling of alleged sexual assault case
Cornell University has agreed to an outside investigation into its handling of an alleged sexual assault case after New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said she had spoken with the university’s president.“We can confirm Cornell agreed to this. That’s all we can share at this time,” the university told CNN.Days after a former Cornell student filed a lawsuit alleging she was gang-raped inside a fraternity house in 2024, Hochul called for an independent review of Cornell’s response to “determine whether Cornell met every obligation to protect its students and pursue justice.”
