Huff’s ex-attorney admits objection flub
Albany man's former defense attorney confirms mistakes made in client's murder trial

ALBANY, GA- The Albany man convicted of killing an employee is fighting for a new trial in the hopes of overturning the guilty verdict.
29 year old Jazzy Jarrell Huff was convicted for the August, 2019 murder of Zenas Davis and sentenced to life in prison, a conviction and sentence his new attorney says should be set aside.
Randall Sharp, Huff’s new attorney handling the appeal, says his client’s conviction was based partly due to errors from previous counsel, prosecutorial misconduct and possible jury tampering.
In the hour plus long hearing Thursday, Sharp spelled out mistakes made by both defense and prosecution, calling Huff’s former lawyer Phil Cannon to testify.
Cannon admitted under questioning that he should have likely objected to descriptions made in court by Dougherty District Attorney Greg Edwards’ portrayal of Huff’s character.
Prior to the hearing, a number of supporters of Huff’s appeal made their presence known outside the courthouse.
