Home invasion in Albany

ALBANY, GA – The Albany Police Department reports that a home invasion took place last night on Hillside Drive.

The homeowner told police that she heard a noise in the house. When she went to check, she encountered an armed man wearing a ski mask and all black clothing. He held her at gunpoint while opening the front door for another male to come in.

At this time, the victim called out to her son in another room. When the suspects learned someone else was in the house they demanded that both residents get on the floor. The son backed into his room on spotting the intruders, who started shooting. The son retrieved a gun and returned fire. Subsequently, the suspects fled the scene in a small silver/gray vehicle.

While no injuries were reported, the inside of the home sustained significant damage.
