GMA taps Cordele commissioner for leadership post

ATLANTA, GA – Cordele City Commissioner Vesta Shephard was elected third vice-president of the Georgia Municipal Association’s District 8 during their annual convention earlier this month in Savannah, making her in line to become second president of the district.

In this role, Shepard will serve as a liaison between GMA and municipal officials in GMA’s District 8. She’ll be attending GMA sponsored events, promote GMA activities and programs within the district and advocate for the association’s legislative priorities.

Created in 1933, GMA is the only state organization that represents municipal governments in Georgia. Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization providing legislative advocacy, educational , employee benefit and technical consulting services to members.

GMA currently represents 537 cities statewide.
