GHSA votes to push football season back two weeks, all other fall sports will start on time

On Monday afternoon GHSA unanimously voted to delay the start of high school football season in Georgia by two weeks. This means the regular season will now begin on September 4th, rather than the original date of August 21st. In a direct response, scrimmages will be pushed back to August 21st and August 28th.
Mandatory practice will begin next Monday, July 27th and the pads will come on August 1st. This new timeline will allow teams a full month of padded practices before kicking off the season during that first week of September.
All other fall sports will start on time and not be delayed.
