Georgia Southwestern wraps annual youth baseball, softball camp
AMERICUS, GA – Georgia Southwestern wrapped up its annual youth baseball and softball camps Thursday morning.
The softball camp saw over 30 kids from ages 7-12 learning from Lady Canes players and coaches on the basic fundamentals of the game: fielding, hitting, throwing, and defensive skills.
“One of the best things I learned was how to get the ball when it hits the fence in the outfield,” said camper Reese Stribling.
The baseball youth camp saw roughly 40 kids from 5-14 expanding their baseball knowledge through GSW coaches and players as well.
“I think everything we do [at these camps] we’re trying to teach something,” said GSW head baseball coach Josh Donaldson. “If they pick up something when they leave out of here that can make them a better player, then I think we’ve been successful here.”
