GBI: Brooks murder suspect captured in Texas
U.S. Marshals find and apprehend wanted murder suspect near border with Mexico

McALLEN, TX- Hildalgo County Sheriff’s officials in Texas confirm to South Georgia Television News the capture of Brooks County, Georgia murder suspect Roberto Andablo Gaona Monday afternoon, near the U.S. & Mexico border.
GBI agents say on Sunday, May 1st, about 11:38 a.m., the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office requested the bureau’s help to conduct a murder investigation involving 23 year old Yessica Baena Torres, who was found deceased in a vehicle near the intersection of Troupeville and Studstill Roads in Brooks County, Georgia.
Agents and a Crime Scene Specialist responded to work with Investigators and deputies to collect and process evidence and conduct witness interviews concerning this investigation.
From the investigation, Agents and Brooks County Sheriff’s Investigators secured arrest warrants for Roberto Andablo Gaona regarding the death of Ms. Torres.
the 32 year old Gaona was wanted on the following outstanding warrants, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
GBI Agents say the victim and suspect knew one another, as the two had an infant child together.
An autopsy will be performed on the victim later this week at the GBI Crime Lab.
The exact autopsy date and time is to still be determined.
