SPARKS, GA – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is revealing new arrests in a child trafficking investigation which began nearly a year and a half ago as a missing persons case in Cook County.

Wednesday morning, GBI agents announced the Tuesday arrest of 23 year old Nicholas Fernandez of Alpharetta. Agents say Fernandez was taken into custody in Athens with charges stemming from multiple counties and cases.

Nelly Miles, the GBI Director of Public and Governmental affairs says Fernandez faces charges from Cook County which include enticing a minor and sex trafficking of a minor.

Fenrnadez faces similar charges in Athens-Clarke County in addition to statutory rape, child molestation, aggravated child molestation and kidnapping.

Miles says Fernandez was originally arrested and charged in Cook County on July 21st, on counts of delinquency of a minor, custodial interference and conspiracy to commit interstate interference with child custody.

In addition to the arrest of Nicholas Fernandez, the GBI also revealed the charges for the arrest of 50 year old Brady Hart of Kent County, Maryland.

According to Miles, her agency was initially requested by the Sparks Police Department for assistance in the case of a missing 14 year old girl. The girl was later found at Hart’s residence in Chestertown, Maryland and the GBI’s investigation discovered the two suspect’s association with each other.
