“Frock, Paper, Scissors” exhibit opens Thursday

ALBANY, GA– The Albany Area Arts Council (AAAC) will be opening their newest exhibit this Thursday evening featuring the work of local artist, Marie Salters, “Frock, Paper, Scissors” series. Beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022, the opening will be held at the Albany Area Arts Council Carnegie Building located at 215 N. Jackson Street in downtown Albany, and will end at 8 p.m.

A resident of Albany, Georgia, Marie Salter rediscovered her interest in art during the pandemic and began experimenting with the art of transforming maps into three-dimensional clothing. Since then, her work has been exhibited at the 21st Annual Southwest Georgia Regional Art Exhibit and Sale, and South Works National Juried Art Exhibition, where she earned “Best In Show.”

Salter is retired from the Dougherty County School System and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Georgia, a Master’s of Education in Instructional Technology, and an Ed.S in Education Leadership from Albany State University. She is married to John Salter and they have a son, James, daughter-in-law, Celeste, and two granddaughters, Fran and Dollie.

The exhibit will be featured at Carnegie through May 21, 2022 and can also be toured online with a virtual walk-through at the AAAC website at albanyartscouncil.org.
