“Freedom on the Field” Veterans Appreciation Baseball Game set for March 28 in Douglas

DOUGLAS, Ga. – A special event honoring those who served will take place on the diamond this weekend as the Freedom on the Field Veterans Appreciation Game is set for Saturday, March 28 at 1 p.m. at the South Georgia State College Baseball Field.

Hosted by VFW Post 5976 and its auxiliary, the event is designed to recognize and celebrate local veterans while bringing the community together for an afternoon of baseball.

The program will feature a veterans first pitch, an ROTC presentation, and patriotic ceremonies throughout the game. Fans can also take part in raffles and a 50/50 drawing while cheering on the South Georgia State Hawks.

Admission is free for all veterans. Those wishing to participate in the on-field recognition are asked to arrive by 12:40 p.m.

Organizers encourage the community to come out, show their support, and help fill the stands for a meaningful tribute to the men and women who have served.
