Family of homicide victim makes plea
(ALBANY, GA) – A Blakely family is asking for help from Albany citizens and offering a reward in the killing of one of their family members this past Summer.
“I just want the community to know that he was a very good person. Hard working, kind, he stayed to himself, tended to his business. But if he could help anyone, he would,” says Clorissa Varnes.
Varnes’ brother, 32 year old Willie Stringer Jr had been killed in a crossfire only a couple of weeks after moving to Albany.
And Varnes is hoping that members of the community will step up.
Varnes says, “He didn’t deserve what happened to him. And if I could ask anybody to step up in the community, to help, if you have any information, whatever you can give, just give. Because you never know when something like this will happen again.”
Varnes, along with the rest of Stringer’s family have made a donation to Albany Crimestoppers as a reward for whoever finds Stringer’s killer.
But Varnes made one additional plea to the killer on Saturday.
Varnes pleaded, “Please come forward. We just want answers. We aren’t angry with anybody, we’re a family that forgives. But we just want answers because he wouldn’t hurt anybody.”
