Family mourns child’s death in Albany fatal drive-by shooting
9 year old victim has been identified as Nigel Brown

ALBANY, GA – Albany Police have identified the 9 year old who died as he slept during a drive-by shooting that erupted late Sunday night.
Officers say they found Nigel Brown dead at the scene of his home at 1503 West Gordon Avenue. The 9 year old was sleeping in his bed when a vehicle passed by the residence and shot toward the housee. Officers say Brown suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
In a Monday morning press release, APD detectives shared some of the case details from the mother of the deceased as well as a photograph of the late Nigel Brown.
Yolander Brown stated she was in another room when she heard several gunshots. When the shooting stopped, Brown checked on her children. She went to her son Nigel Brown’s room and found him lying on the top bunk of the bunkbed, unresponsive. That’s when she called 911.
Her daughter, Larosa Brown, was in the room when the incident occurred. She stated she did not see who was shooting. Yolander said her son, Austin Williams, and her grandfather, Clarence Jones were all in the house at the time of the shooting.
Albany Police are requesting the public’s help in finding and apprehending the killer.
