Family, community continuing to seek justice in Nigel Browns death

A peaceful protest was held over to weekend in North Albany

ALBANY, Ga. – The family of Nigel Brown, the 9-year-old that was fatally killed while sleeping in his bed back in August of 2020, partnered with Gieryic’s Automotive on Dawson Road and held a peaceful protest as they continue to seek justice.

“We’re not asking for anything else, just justice we’re just tying to make sure Nigel’s name stay alive.” says Yolander Brown, Nigel’s mom.

That’s why the family and community members came together to continue to do just that, in hopes that someone will come forward.

“And Ms. Brown needs, she needs justice so she can carry on with her life. I heard her say already that she’s forgiven the people responsible that’s a big step.” says Tom Gieryic of Gieryic’s Automotive. “So we’re just here supporting her as community members, because we’re all outraged about what happened and any support she needs, we’re wanting to give her.” says Gieryic.

This all came to fruition after a Facebook post by Yolander which caught the eye of Gieryic, where the protest was held Saturday.

Nigel’s grieving mom hopes all of the hard work pays off and that someone will eventually step up.

“We feel like somebody one day, hopefully soon will come out and give us some kind of answers.” says Brown.
