DPH COVID-19 testing to go on for months

Teasting Site

ALBANY, Ga. – Since March at the start of this pandemic, the Southwest Public Health District of the Department of public Health has offered free COVID-19 testing at multiple sites throughout the district for residents to take advantage of.

To date, the southwest wing of DPH has conducted nearly 18,000 specimen collections.

And as the COVID-19 pandemic rages on, 9 of the 14 counties that the Southwest District oversees has test sites that Dr. Charles Ruis, health director for the Southwest Health District, hopes people continue to take advantage of.

“We want to urge people to get tested. Its easy to do and it’s free to the public. We don’t have an end date for testing. It’s very unlikely that we would stop testing before the fall so that’ll be ongoing,” says Ruis.

Appointments are strongly encouraged and you can visit our website for more information on setting one up.
