Douglas man charged in Coffee County arson case

DOUGLAS, GA – Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King’s office has charged a Coffee County man with deliberately setting fire to a mobile home last month.

The Fire Investigations Unit says it got the call from Coffee County deputies shortly after there August 21st blaze, which caused moderate damage to the residence on Warren Carter Road in Douglas.

Commissioner King says “the occupant called emergency services after noticing a fire on her rear porch,” around 1:30 that morning.

Mr. Richard Darrin Davis, 56, was charged as a result of the investigation.

“Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set, and Mr. Davis is being charged with Arson in the 1st Degree as a result,” said Commissioner King.

At last report, Davis is being held in the Coffee County Jail.
