ALBANY, GA – The plan to have as many as 10,000 home Covid-19 test kits  for Dougherty County residents is now on hold, as officials look for a new vendor to supply the kits.

Earlier this month, the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of 10,000 home COVID testing kits from Matrix Management in the amount of $135,000.

County officials were using funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to pay for the kits.

But the contracted vendor has failed in fulfilling the requests and as a result, Dougherty County will transition to an alternate plan.

Due to the continued need for Dougherty County employees internally, an alternative plan is in process to procure adequate COVID rapid testing kits for internal usage only.

As a result, there will not be a testing kit distribution event that will be held at this time, as previously planned.
