(RADIUM SPRINGS, GA) – With progress continuing on the Radium Springs Memorial and trailhead, the Dougherty County Public Works department is hoping to further additions to At the community..

It’ll comes in the form of a new surveillance system.

“This upgrade of our current camera system will allow for expansion as we bring new projects online…So this project will upgrade our current system to allow for us to put cameras out there and monitor them at the public works main office,” says Assistant County Administrator, Scott Addison.

the camera system would cost the county up to $29,000 in SPLOST dollars and would place half a dozen cameras along the garden.

County Commissioner, Anthony Jones says that as they complete the memorial and the trailhead, connecting it to Albany, security needs to be there.

Jones tells us, “We need to know what’s going on on the property. As well, we’re putting a great deal of money into places like robert cross park. So we feel we need to have a sophisticated system out there.”

The new surveillance system would allow for 24 hour security in Radium Springs.

However, it also requires that the county upgrades their existing surveillance systems.

Jones says, “It’s needed. Criminals have gotten sophisticated, therefore we need to pick up the pace, and that’s why we’re putting in a sophisticated system throughout.”

Commissioner Jones says that the county is hoping to have a ribbon cutting for the memorial in October at the earliest.
