Dougherty County Sheriff’s Annual Shop with a Cop

ALBANY, Ga. – On Monday the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office rounded up a few kids, but for a great cause. Each year Sheriff Kevin Sproul and his deputies willingly come together to make sure that children in our area who are less fortunate have a Merry Christmas.

The Sheriff’s office picked up 29 kids from their home took them to Golden Corral to have a nice warm meal, and then to Target where they picked out presents that they could put under the tree to open on Christmas day.

Last year due to COVID-19, the Sheriff’s Office bought the Christmas presents themselves to the kids, this year they were able to return to the shopping spree policy.

“It feels awesome, I think I can say this for most Americans, we’ll be so glad when this virus is behind us and we can get over and get back to some kind of normalcy.” said Sheriff Sproul

The money was raised during a golf tournament back in October according to Sheriff Sproul along with a few more donors from the community which is how all of this is made possible. $125 was given to each child to spend at Target.
