Dougherty County sees some positive trends in regards to COVID-19

DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. – Some positive news came out of Doughtery County’s COVID-19 task force meeting this afternoon.
City officials announced that they’ve seen some positive trends in the county in regards to the coronavirus pandemic.
Dr. Steven Kitchen, chief medical officer with Phoebe, says that Phoebe health systems is seeing less people test positive for COVID-19 and the average number of new patients being hospitalized with critical symptoms is also decreasing.
He attributes the positive results to cooperation within the county.
“In my opinion that is solely due to all the public health measures, the social distancing ordinances and the other difficult decisions that your government officials and policy makers have put into place so I want to emphasize that if we’re going to win this battle, we’re going to win it with those effective public health measures,” says Dr. Kitchen.
Although these positive trends might show progress, officials say that residents must continue to follow CDC guidelines and adhere to social distancing ordinances.
