Dougherty County Schools gear up for upcoming school year

ALBANY, Ga. – Dougherty County Schools are getting themselves together for the school year. And part of getting ready involves distributing meals and technology.
The school system announced that they will return to school virtually beginning the 17th. And Students were able to pick up hotspots, laptops and food beginning Monday.
DCSS spokesperson Lakisha Bruce says students should expect things to be quite different from last year.
“Our online instructional model this fall is vastly different from the online model that we had to implement when we had our immediate shutdown back in the spring,” says Bruce.
Lunch and breakfast will also be distributed throughout the year.
“Meals will be delivered on Mondays and Wednesdays, with breakfast and lunch for each day. No weekend meals will be served.”
Parents are expected to wear masks while interacting with staff on school grounds during food and gadget distribution.
