(ALBANY, GA) — After the flooding caused by heavy rain during the week, Dougherty County Public Works are helping those along the Flint River.

Throughout the rest of Friday and parts of Saturday, the Pubic Works Department will be handing out sandbags to those who need them.

Public Works has a limit of 20 sandbags per Dougherty County resident, but they are bringing them to those who live in unincorporated parts of the county.

Dougherty Engineering Specialist, Bradd Little says they’ve already been busy Friday morning

“For a lot of the low lying houses, these sandbags will help keep the water out. Areas of Lovers Lane we were on earlier, they are getting close to some doors. And some houses have already seen flooding,” says Little.

Little says residents need to provide a Dougherty County Driver’s License if they need sandbags.
