Dougherty County increasing storm siren coverage

Sirens

ALBANY, GA – Storm sirens can only warn of inclement weather approaching if they can be heard. The need for more alarms was made evident when several citizens commented they couldn’t hear the sirens from their homes.

As a result, Dougherty County is purchasing 20 new storm sirens at a cost of $500,000 to enlarge the coverage area throughout the county. Citizens will feel safer and more confident that they will have a heads-up when the weather gets dangerous.

The next steps for installation are surveying and construction.
