Derailed train brings downtown Sycamore to standstill
No one injured in quarter mile long rail accident in Turner County Friday morning

SYCAMORE, GA – Turner County’s EMA is on the scene of a train derailment in downtown Sycamore.
The train went off the tracks a little after 7 this morning.
Turner County EMA Director Mark Robinson says initial reports of the train plowing into a nearby home were incorrect and that no one was hurt.
Robinson estimates the length of the derailment is approximately a quarter of a mile.
To accommodate recovery of the tumbled train cars, Highway 41 traffic through downtown Sycamore is being rerouted between Bussey and Dasher Roads.
We’re awaiting comment from Norfolk-Southern officials on this morning’s mishap.
