Crisp County Schools announce calendar change

CORDELE, Ga. — According to an email received today, the parent letter below is going home with students today. CCSS also sent an automated message to parents through our call system this morning.
The CCSS stated, “As we stated during our BOE work session last Thursday we monitor COVID numbers very closely and in collaboration with our community partners and our DPH. We will begin Christmas break on Wednesday, December 16th. This is a calendar change from the original date of Friday, December 18th.
We have also made a change when our students return on January 6th. We plan to return all students (virtual and face to face) virtual-only for the first two weeks of the second semester, with in-person students returning to campus on Tuesday, January 19th. There are no changes for those students already attending virtually.
Given the data following Thanksgiving break, our intent is to provide critical time to see the impact of COVID after Christmas break and mitigate the spread. We encourage our community to continue to socially distance and wear masks. Closing school is a decision made with input from principals, district leadership, and the support of our Board of Education. We want to thank both our staff members and our students for adhering to COVID protocols to keep everyone safe. We have had a successful first semester because of TEAMWORK and the support of our parents and community.”
