Crisp County School System providing lunches while school’s out

CRISP COUNTY, Ga. – Crisp County Schools are closed this week but you’ll still see buses driving around between noon and one.
These buses are filled with hot lunches and cold milk.
The Crisp County School System is providing these meals daily this week to students. School Nutrition Director, Lisa Leggett, says providing these lunches to students helps during these trying times.
“Most people assume that everybody’s got groceries at home but we have a significant population in our county that is food insecure, probably more than 50% and even if they do have food it could be that they can run out in the next week. We just don’t know what that’s like at home we just want to make sure our kids are eating.”
The school system is asking that only students come out to grab their lunches from these locations to encourage social distancing.
