(CORDELE, GA) — Crews in Crisp County are continuing to pick up the pieces after flooding caused serious damage to county roads.

Crisp County Public Information Officer, Haley Little says, “What you see is Canon Road, working on a culvert that was washed out. This actually caused water line damage to some of the individual residents in this area. So crews are working diligently to get that fixed”

After weeks of down pouring that damaged both roads and water lines throughout the county, Crisp County officials were only able to lift a boil water advisory for county residents Wednesday afternoon.

But more than that, they’re asking people to stay off of barricaded roads.

“We really ask that citizens adhere to that, those cones are there for a reason. You don’t know what’s been under-mined underneath the roadway with erosion, and the damage caused by that flood water running across them,” Says Little.

As more work is being done to get all roads back into a suitable condition, the county is looking towards getting help from the state for the road repairs.

Especially after the county was declared in a State of Emergency when the rain hit.

Little tells us, ”Right now, the estimate just on our paved roads is over a million dollars. We’re working to still access some of our dirt road areas to see what that financial number is going to be.”

Crisp County is asking residents to be patient as the roads are continuing to be repaired.
