Cordele FD Captain Mark Allen injured during post-structure fire search

CORDELE, Ga. — The Cordele Fire Department was called out at 11:47 pm Monday night to what turned out to be two fully involved structure fires at 1108 North Joe Wright Drive.

While beginning a post-cool down search, Captain Mark Allen was injured when a chimney fell on him. He was taken to Crisp Regional Hospital for assessment and treatment, then transferred to the Augusta Burn Center for treatment of severe smoke inhalation.
