Cordele child sex assault arrest

Officers were dispatched to an address regarding a sexual assault involving a juvenile

CORDELE, GA- Shortly after five pm on August 11th, 2022, officers with the Cordele Police Department were dispatched to an address regarding a sexual assault involving a juvenile.

Upon the officer’s arrival, they quickly found and apprehended the suspect, twenty-nine-year-old Richard Hicks of Cordele. Hicks was arrested on the scene without incident.

The victim was transported to the hospital, and Hicks was taken to the Police Department, where he was interviewed by Cordele Detectives.

Richard Hicks was later transported to the Crisp County Detention Center and charged with:

Rape – Felony

Aggravated Child Molestation – Felony

Cruelty to Children First Degree – Felony
