Colquitt County High School wraps annual youth soccer camp
MOULTRIE, GA – Nearly 40 campers took over Packer Park for the final day of the annual Youth Soccer Camp hosted by Colquitt County.
“It’s extremely important [to hold these camps] especially for a sport like soccer,” said Packers head soccer coach Colby Simpson. “The younger you can start and the more touches you can get on the ball, the better a player you’ll become.”
The camp saw kids from 2nd to 6th grade – all from Moultrie – working with Simpson on how to improve their skills by doing stationary drills that would help them work on attacking, defending and dribbling. The camp also saw the little ones going against each other in a game-like simulation where they would play 3-on-3 for 10 minutes with the winners getting bragging rights.
Overall, it was a fun camp for everyone and Simpson says he takes pride in getting his school involved in the community.
“Just the support from the community, the support from the campers, the support from the parents is great and that’s how we continue to build a program,” Simpson said.
