City of Albany now live-streaming commission meetings

ALBANY, Ga. – Tuesday morning citizens had access to watch Albany City Commission meetings on several platforms.
The Public Information Team and along with the Technology and Communication Team researched streaming technology options, which took about a month before deciding on a software service. It cost $18,697.30 for the live stream products to include software and cameras.
Now, moving forward, people can watch, listen and comment in real time on what’s going on in the commission meetings without having to leave their couch.
Ward 6 Commissioner, Demetrius Young says the implementation of the new technology is “awesome, the video quality is great and more than that it just gives the government a different feel. I think it takes us a step above in terms of what Albany government looks like and represents to the people and it kind of brings us into the social media age.”
If you’d like to join in on the meetings, just tune in to Channel 16, the City’s Facebook page, or the City’s YouTube Channel.
The City Commission meetings are held on the second Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. and the last Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
