City of Albany declares March as Developmental Disabilities Month
(ALBANY, GA)- The City of Albany took a stand in support of those with disabilities.
During Tuesday morning’s City Commission meeting, Mayor Bo Dorough made the proclamation that March would be recognized as Developmental Disabilities Month.
The month is a partnership between the city and Aspire Behavioral Health to provide those with developmental disabilities opportunities for housing, recreational activities and employment.
As part of the proclamation, the mayor also brought something else up…
“I urge all citizens to take time to get to know someone with a developmental disability and ask ‘What’s your story?’ Every story holds a promise to educate and inspire others,” says Mayor Dorough.
Mayor Dorough is also asking the community to increase their involvement in helping those with developmental disabilities.
