Bridge construction closes SR 32 in Coffee County

Seventeen Mile River bridge project closes roadway until further notice

DOUGLAS, GA – The Georgia Department of Transportation has closed SR 32 in Coffee County until further notice as construction begins to replace the aging Seventeen Mile River bridge.

GDOT says they’ve closed the road in order to evaluate the detour bridge being utilized during construction. Motorists are asked to follow the detour signs that are being put into place.

The site is about three miles east of Douglas. Construction to replace the old bridge that was built in 1955 is expected to be complete later this year.
