Arlington Police Chief arrested on aggravated assault charges

NEWTON, Ga. – The Georgia Bureau Investigation arrested Arlington Police Chief Cora Baker Tuesday after a Baker County grand jury indicted her on three counts of aggravated assault.
On March 5, 2019, the GBI Sylvester Field Office was requested by Baker County Sheriff Dana Meade to investigate a domestic violence/aggravated assault incident involving Baker and Timothy Hatten.
At the time of the incident, Baker was employed as a deputy by the Terrell County Sheriff’s Office.
A Baker County Grand Jury also indicted Hatten on charges of aggravated assault, false imprisonment and battery . Hatten is currently in the custody of the Georgia Department of Corrections on an unrelated probation violation offense.
Baker, 39, was lodged in the Calhoun County Jail.
This investigation was turned over to the South Georgia Judicial Circuit where it will be prosecuted.
