APD Gang Unit discusses significance of kidnapping suspect’s tattoo
(ALBANY, GA) – It’s been more than a month since kidnapping suspect, Tristian Brown was taken into police custody for holding a woman at gunpoint. We sat down with the Albany Police Department’S Gang Unit about the significance of brown’s most defining feature: a tattoo just above his right eye.
The NFL tattoo on Brown’s forehead?..
“It stands for ‘never forget loyalty’ it’s not correlated to a specific street gang per se..,” says Gang Unit Sergeant, Gregory Gadt.
Regardless of whether it’s tied to a gang or not, the albany police say individuals like Tristian Brown tend to band together for a sense of security and belonging…
As long as they’re willing to have a mile long rap sheet.
Sergeant Gadt tells us, “They just want that notoriety to be able to say they’re part of a clique or a group or a street gang, that might be known for doing some illegal activities and committing crimes in those communities.”
While Brown is still behind bars, the gang unit wants parents and family who may be concerned that their child is considering joining a gang, to come forward so they can talk.
“If you are a family member and you feel you have some questions about a tattoo a loved one has, feel free to reach out to us. We’d be glad to help and sit down with somebody…,” says Gadt.
If you know someone who may be considering in joining a gang, you can contact the Albany Police Department’s Gang Unit at (229) 431-2100 and ask for the Gang Unit.
