Amazon will hold a product launch event later this month

The season of big tech events continues.

Amazon said Thursday that it will hold a press event later this month in Seattle, where the company is headquartered.

At the event, which is scheduled to take place on September 25, Amazon could unveil new Echo devices and other gadgets or services. At an event last September in Seattle, Amazon announced a long list of new Echo and Echo-related devices, including new Echo smart speakers, an Alexa-controlled microwave and wall clock, and a DVR device for recording live TV.

Amazon kicked off the smart speaker category in 2014 with the release of its first Echo smart speaker and has been iterating on the product since.

But companies such as Amazon, Google and Apple have come under scrutiny in recent months after revelations surfaced that contract workers have been listening to some voice assistant audio recordings to help improve the products. Companies have since taken steps to address the issue, such as pausing human review of the audio or making it opt-in.

In March, Amazon added a feature that allows users to ask Alexa to delete their recordings.
