Albany weekend stay is short for kidnap suspects
Police in Lovejoy say duo captured in Albany after tip from escaping victim

ALBANY, GA – A weekend visit to the Good Life City for two kidnapping suspects was cut short, thanks in part to a collaborative effort between Albany Police and their counterparts in Lovejoy.
Lovejoy Police say both 33 year old Demarco Jennings and 19 year old Cameron Hopkins are in the Clayton County Jail after being extradited back from Albany.
Investigators say it all began Saturday night at a Clayton County Wal-Mart, where Hopkins was spotted kidnapping an 18 year old woman at gunpoint in the store’s parking lot.
Police describe the kidnap victim as Hopkins’ ex-girlfriend.
Hopkins is alleged to have abandoned his getaway vehicle when he was picked up by Jennings.
But the 18 year old kidnap victim was able to escape the vehicle in Monroe, and alert authorities to the duo’s planned destination in Albany, where both were taken into custody.
Police say the kidnap victim is safely returned to her family.
Both suspects face a lengthy list of felonies including kidnapping.
