(ALBANY, GA) – Albany Utilities is taking a big step forward when it comes to keeping people up to date with blackouts.

The organization announced last week the start of a power outage management system, meant to keep people up to date when they report a power outage.

Director of Operations at Albany Utilities, Jimmy Norman says that the new system will help make sure that a power crew is dispatched as soon as possible.

The new system also helps put away the need for an older system that Albany Utilities considered less reliable.

Norman tells us, “It was a very antiquated system, and it made for a lot of effort to get an outage reported, and get customers notified. This way, they’ve got it run in the palm of their hand and can report an outage on their mobile device.”
