Albany Transit line back up and running

The Blue Line route runs around the Albany Mall and affected commuters from 8:45-3:45 p.m.

ALBANY, Ga. – Good news for Albany Transit Blue Line riders. The route is back up and running after a first day of service interruption, according to transportation director David Hamilton.

The route was shutdown temporarily due to a lack of bus drivers. Albany Transit is roughly at half staff currently and with 4 drivers calling out, something had to give.

“Well our blue line route, unfortunately we had to interrupt the services for a few hours. We had some drivers to call out and some to have some other personal leave issues. So we were having to react quickly and we reacted by interrupting the blue route; and that route services the area near Lincoln Elementary.” said Hamilton.

Even with all of drivers back on the road, Hamilton urges transit customers to pack a little more patience as they have 6 buses compared to their usual 11 when they were fully staffed serving 13 routes.
