APD: Albany teen now brain dead; two accused face murder charges

ALBANY, GA- Albany Police say two teenagers arrested shortly after a Thursday afternoon shooting will now face new charges now that the 15 year old victim died from the injuries sustained.

Albany Police Public Information Officer Phyllis Whitley-Banks says 17 year old JyQuay Jordan and a 15 year old male juvenile, now identified as Tony Jenkins, will face additional charges of second degree murder beyond their initial counts of aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, reckless conduct, firearm possession of during the commission of a crime as well as possession by a minor.

Whitley-Banks says the two were arrested after 15 year old Jason Clark was critically wounded in a shooting Thursday in the 1800 block of West Whitney Avenue in Albany.

Jordan was booked into the Dougherty County Jail and Jenkins was taken to the Terrell County RYDC. Jenkins is expected to be transported to the Dougherty County Jail with the upgrade in criminal charges.

Early Friday afternoon, APD alerted local media that Clark died from his wounds.

Shortly afterward, Clark’s medical condition was clarified; noting he was declared brain dead earlier this morning but was still on life-support.

Both of the accused will be charged as adults according to Albany Police.
