Albany Technical College reinforces mask policy
(ALBANY, GA) – After a semester of precautions, Albany Technical College is once again reinforcing their mask policy after an unofficial gathering earlier this week.
“As I understand, we had some students in the Cross Building, that were here and not maintaining the proper social distancing and didn’t have on face coverings…,” says Albany Technical College President, Dr. Anthony Parker.
It’s unclear at this time if any of the students involved were COVID-19 carriers, though they won’t face repercussions.
Moving forward though, an unofficial gathering without guidelines could be problematic for the campus.
Dr. Parker told us Wednesday afternoon, “We want to do the right thing for our students, our staff, and our faculty, and the community…The point is we don’t know who is a carrier, so we all want to be safe.”
While the students won’t face any repercussions for the incident, Dr. Parker says that he doesn’t want the campus or the community to hold ill will towards them.
Especially since Albany Technical’s president understands the frustration of the students given the circumstances.
He tells us, “So we hope that if they’re not graduating now that they come back to campus to complete their education. If they do, I’ll welcome them back here.”
