ALBANY, GA – A controversial murder conviction in Dougherty County will soon go before the state’s highest bench on appeal.

Monday, South Georgia Television News has learned that Georgia’s Supreme Court will hear the appeal of Jazzy Jarrell Huff, tentatively slated for November.

Huff maintains his innocence in the August, 2019 shooting death of Zenas Lee Davis, claiming he shot Davis in self-defense.

Davis was shot multiple times in an argument over a twenty dollars.

Just weeks ago, Judge Denise Marshall denied Huff’s appeal of his murder conviction.

Huff’s attorneys say prosecuting District Attorney Greg Edwards used prejudicial language during the murder trial and that the jury was compromised.
