Albany man guilty of THC in Dooly
2018 drug and weapons case began as a speeding stop on I-75

VIENNA, GA – An Albany man awaits sentencing after being found guilty of possessing illegal substances and weapons during a traffic stop nearly 3 years ago.
Cordele District Attorney Brad Rigby says sentencing for Jarrett Jermaine Turner will be forthcoming, after he was found guilty of possessing multiple vials of THC and firearms, one of which was reported stolen.
Rigby says it all began with a May 21, 2018 traffic stop for speeding over 90 mph on Interstate 75.
The responding Dooly County deputy says he detected a strong odor of marijuana as he approached Turner’s vehicle.
Inside, Captain Cal Scarborough says he discovered multiple vials of THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, along with a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver along with a .45 caliber Glock hand gun.
The deputy also found the Glock loaded with a 24 round extended magazine in addition to a 13 round magazine for the same weapon.
Rigby credits the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office as well as a personal commendation for Captain Scarborough for an investigation well done.
