Albany man charged in Dawson murder arrested in Virginia

GREENVILLE, VA- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says a Dawson murder suspect has been arrested and charged with the crime, after his arrest in Virginia.

GBI agents say 26 year old Nakia West of Albany faces felony murder and aggravated assault charges in connection to the death of 59 year old Annie Chappell.

Chappell was found dead inside her Boundary Street home Monday afternoon.

Detectives quickly honed in on the victim’s missing vehicle, described as a 2006 Black Hyundai.

The GBI says Augusta County, Virginia deputies recognized the vehicle by a BOLO alert.

West was reportedly the only person in the vehicle as he was taken into custody.

He’s awaiting extradition to Georgia.
