MACON, Ga. — The coronavirus and somber stories have taken over headlines as Americans adjust to this new normal. But that doesn’t mean charitable and good-natured gestures aren’t being spread around as well.

75-year-old Hal Sutton has been chief engineer at our sister station, WPGA, in Macon for 22 years, but to his wife, he’s in charge of keeping the two of them safe and healthy during this time. Before heading out to the grocery store for essentials, Sutton was pleasantly surprised by a random act of kindness.

“I looked out on the garage and there were a couple little packages sitting there and when I went out and looked and there were two N95 masks with a note that said ‘stay safe’ When it gets right down to it, everybody is going to try to help their neighbors,” says Sutton.

Sutton says his wife has a number of health conditions but with the help of the masks, his chances of bringing the virus home has been greatly reduced.
