ALBANY, Ga.- Monday was all about the King. On that frigid but sunny MLK Service Day, South Georgia residents used their time off to serve their community. The marchers waved and clapped as they sang in unison down Joe Wright Drive.

Volunteers work together on MLK Day
In Albany, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital partnered with a number of community projects to honor Dr. King’s legacy and give back to the community they serve. The first project of the day involved planting fruit trees and seasonal plants in Flint River Fresh’s community garden located at 211 W. 5th Ave. The organization’s leader Fredando Jackson was “overwhelmed” by the day’s turnout of volunteers but eagerly welcomed the extra hands.
