Albany leaders encourage census forms amid low numbers

Census

(ALBANY, GA) – The City of Albany, alongside Dougherty County are still asking for people to turn in their census forms.

Ward 1 City Commissioner, John Howard, alongside the county say that the city and Dougherty County are far below the national response rate of almost 62%.

Commissioner Howard has been encouraging civic and religious leaders to help spread the word as every person counted in the census is another twenty-three hundred dollars for the county.

He tells us, “We certainly need for city leaders, community leaders, religious leaders, concerned citizens that we encourage our family members to send these in. Because if we miss out, we will not have another chance until 2030”

Commissioner Howard says the final deadline for the census will be on October 31st.
