(ALBANY, GA) – One of Dougherty County’s oldest structures is getting a quality of life upgrade.

County workers are in the process of upgrading Hugh Mills stadium’s lights to be more energy efficient.

The nearly 90 year old stadium last had the lights upgraded in the 1970’s.

These LED lights will help the stadium to use less power, and Dougherty County Stadium Authority Secretary, Johnny Seabrooks says they’ll cover more than just the football field.

He tells us, “It’ll also provide more lighting, and brightness to the field, as well as in and around the stadium. So it’s just one of the things the stadium authority continues to do to try and upgrade the facility for the number of events held at the stadium.”

Seabrooks says they hope to have the lights installed by August 1st, and he’s optimistic about there being a high school football season.
