(MOULTRIE, GA) – The Sun Belt Agriculture Expo in Moultrie usually brings farmers and researchers across the South together to show off the latest work on crops.

While this year’s Field Day has not been scrapped, they’re going on with a different plan: one that allows them to stay in their cars at all times.

“People will just arrive at a designated area, we’ll give them a welcome bag, and they’ll proceed through the route themselves in the comfort of their own vehicles. So we encourage people to bring a friend with them or other farmers they might like to attend with them,” says Sun Belt VP of Public Relations, Becca Turner.

Unlike in previous years where farmers would be grouped together on trams and taken across the 600 acre plot of land, research will be explained through visitor’s phones and bluetooth devices.

Though the hands-on conversations with researchers about their work can still go on as normal.

Turner tells us, “If they choose at some time to stop and visit with the researchers, the researchers will be there. They just won’t speak with more than a few people at a time so they can practice social distancing.”

While it may seem that something could be lost due to the strained communication between researchers and farmers, Sun Belt is confident that won’t be the case.

“I know it’s going to be different this year, without having that face to face as much as we normally would during a normal year. But we’ve got all the plots in for this year for the farmers to come and take a look,” says Sun Belt Farm Manager, Cody Mitchell.

As the Field Day is set, the Sun Belt Ag Expo is still being prepared to go on as planned this October as scheduled.

The Sun Belt Field Day will take place on Thursday, July 23rd, from 8 A.M to 11:30 A.M.
