Crisp County Jail re-opens for visitation
(CORDELE, GA) – The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office is making some changes to their visitation policies in the jail.
The Sheriff’ Office announced Monday afternoon that they would allow visitors to once again see inmates in the prison, after locking down in mid-March.
Visitors will be required to wear masks, as well as sanitize their hands when they come into the jail to visit inmates.
County Public Information Officer Haley Wade says that protecting the inmates and their families remains a top priority with the jail.
She tells us, “We want to protect anyone who visits us at the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, as well as our detention center, and we want to ensure their safety. There are still positive cases in Crisp County, there are still positive cases in Georgia. We don’t have inmates just from Crisp County, so that’s people visiting from other areas…”
Wade says that there hasn’t been a single confirmed case of COVID-19 in the jail, but they are not taking any chances.
There have been major outbreaks at several jails and prisons around the country.
