Men’s Health fair to be different from years past

(ALBANY, GA) – Tift park will play host to the 17th annual “Men on the Move” health fair this weekend as part of Father’s Day.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, things are going to be looking slightly different this year.

Friendship Baptist Church Pastor, Carl White tells us, “This is very important for men in our community to be able to come together and promote healthy lifestyles. With what we talk about as pastors, we preach a holistic gospel, and that’s not only to the spirit, but to the mind and body as well.”

The Coalition of Pastors of Albany, are once again teaming up with the Phoebe Health System to hold this event, with this year having proper social distancing guidelines.

In addition to COVID-19 and other health concerns, this year’s men on the move fair will tackle not just men’s health, but on the concept of unity as well.

“We’re uniting around faith. We’re uniting around healing, but also, the third piece is we’re uniting around change. Around the changes we’re seeing in and around our world,” says White.

More so, through plenty of the recent troubling times, the pastors of Albany want this year’s men on the move to be not just about unity, but a bigger learning experience as well.

“We want people to see a message of health, but also see a message of hope. Say ‘hey we will not we will not remain the status quo, we will come together, and we will be the change we want to see in the world.’ and that change starts here in Albany, Georgia.”

As rough times continue, the pastors are helping to inspire a little extra hope this Father’s Day weekend.

The event will be held this Saturday, June 20th, at Tift Park in Downtown Albany at 10 AM with a virtual tour on the Phoebe Health System’s Facebook page.
